Why Do I Need Decimal Hours?
Most payroll systems require time to be entered in decimals rather than hours and minutes. For example, if you work 8 hours and 30 minutes, you can't just multiply your hourly rate by 8.30. Instead, you must convert 30 minutes to a decimal by dividing by 60 (30 ÷ 60 = 0.5). Therefore, your decimal hours worked is 8.5. Our calculator automatically does this conversion for you!
