How is the Due Date Calculated?
Our calculator uses the standard medical formula known as Naegele's rule. It calculates the estimated due date (EDD) by adding 280 days (40 weeks) to the first day of your last menstrual period. We also dynamically adjust this 280-day baseline based on your average cycle length. If your cycle is longer than the standard 28 days, your due date is pushed back; if it's shorter, your due date is moved forward.
Pregnancy Trimesters
- First Trimester: Weeks 1 through 12. This is a period of rapid fetal development.
- Second Trimester: Weeks 13 through 26. Often described as the most comfortable phase of pregnancy.
- Third Trimester: Weeks 27 until birth. The final stretch of fetal growth and preparation for delivery.
